A tincture is typically an extract of a plant made using ethanol (ethyl alcohol) and they are taken internally with a little water or fruit juice. Tinctures are favoured by most herbalists when making up herbal mixtures for patients and are believed to present the herbs in the most available form for absorption by the body. The many herbalists who grow their own herbs generally make tinctures with the fresh herb as it has a wider range of constituents by including any lost during the drying process.

Made with fresh Echinacea from our Herefordshire herb farm and blended with Black Elderberry juice and soothing Acacia honey. Famously, Echinacea provides natural nutritional support for the body’s immunity, especially during the cold and flu season. Black Elderberry is an ancient winter hedgerow remedy, whose ability to support the body’s immune system has now been widely researched.

Most Herbfarmacy tinctures are made with fresh herbs grown on our farm (or locally), except for Milk Thistle which uses dried seeds grown in Europe as no-one is currently growing it organically in the UK.

These tinctures are bottled on the farm and are useful as food supplements offering support for various body systems.

Recommended intake for adults as a food supplement: Half a teaspoon (2.5ml) 2-3 times daily.  Take in water or fruit juice if preferred.  Alternatively, buy one of our re-useable spritzer tops and take 20 full sprays in the mouth – again 2-3 times daily.

Not recommended for children under the age of 12 years.

Ingredients: Water, organic alcohol, organic Echinacea purpurea fresh whole plant extract, organic Elderberry juice, organic honey.

Please seek medical advice if pregnant or breastfeeding.  Store in a cool dark place out of children’s reach.
